Description

The project involves the development, construction and operation of a 50MW solar power plant, located 200 kilometers south of Amman in Ma’an Governorate in Jordan. The commercial operation date is planned for Q4 2020 and the plant is expected to supply 42,000 households with energy and avoid at least 100,000 tonnes in annual CO2 emissions. Power offtake is arranged under a 20-year PPA by the National Electricity Power Company under a full Ministry of Finance Government Guarantee. The SPV for the project is called Al Husainiyah Power Generation Company, a Jordan-registered entity. The projects sponsors are AMEA Power, as the lead developer and majority owner (70%) and Philadelphia Solar (30%). The project cost is $ 74 million. FMO (Dutch Development Bank) is the lead arranger for the $ 59.2 million senior financing package. Along with a contribution of 29.6 million, DEG, the German Development Finance Institution committed $ 29.6 million.
