Alabama River Cellulose Mill Modernization and Expansion

Georgia-Pacific is investing $800 million to modernize, expand, and optimize the capacity of its Alabama River Cellulose mill in Perdue Hill, Alabama. The project includes installation of a state-of-the-art digester, new pulp dryer, efficient power boiler, and upgrades to washing systems, recovery boiler, evaporators, and lime kiln. The modernization aims to increase annual production to approximately 1 million tons of fluff and market pulp, boosting capacity by about 300 tons per day, and making the mill one of the most technologically advanced pulp facilities in the U.S. Environmental improvements such as lower water consumption, reduced emissions, and enhanced energy efficiency are also part of the plan.
