Alameda Lane Repurposing Project

The project involves repurposing one vehicle travel lane on Alameda Avenue westbound from approximately Pearl St. to Humboldt St. to create dedicated left turn pockets along this stretch. The original plan was to reduce the four-lane road to two lanes with a dedicated center turn lane and add a pedestrian buffer. The new plan keeps two eastbound lanes and changes one westbound lane to a series of turn pockets between Franklin and Pearl Streets. The project aims to improve safety by addressing left turn and rear end crashes and enhance pedestrian and cyclist safety with crossing improvements and bikeway network expansion.
