Alaska LNG Project

An $44 billion project involving an 800-mile gas pipeline and LNG plant in Alaska, aimed at moving stranded gas from Alaska's remote north across the state for liquefaction and export. The project has faced decades of delays due to cost and logistical challenges. Japan has hired Wood Mackenzie to assess the project as it considers support and potential off-take agreements. The project developers have engaged with several Japanese firms and have non-binding deals with Thai and Taiwanese companies. Australian engineering firm Worley is conducting a final cost estimate with a goal of a final investment decision by the end of the year.
