Alcester Castle Grand Designs Project

under construction

Alcester Castle is a £7.5 million Grand Designs project located in Wixford, Warwickshire. The project involves building a modern castle on the site of an 18th century property that had fallen into decline. The construction has faced multiple delays, budget overruns, and challenges including asbestos removal, supplier administration, and pandemic-related setbacks. The castle is designed with eco-friendly features such as recycled materials and a wind turbine to ensure near net zero energy use. After four years, the castle remains unfinished and the owners have faced financial difficulties including selling properties and seeking loans to fund the project.
