Description

Description

ALEA AQUARIUS (26x26min) is a fantasy drama series for young audiences produced by ALEA AQUARIUS (26x26min) is a fantasy drama series for young audiences produced by Red Balloon Film (DE) in co-production with ZDF (DE), maze pictures (DE), Umedia (BE) and Fasten Films (ES). ZDF Studios (DE) has taken over the world sales and Cairo based Mad Solutions has taken over the Arab territories (MENA sales). ALEA AQUARIUS is based on the best-selling novels of Tanya Stewner (1.3 Mio books sold only in Germany) and tells the story of orphaned teenager ALEA, who grew up believing she had a deadly disease and finds out that she is in fact a Mergirl and her life is in danger. She flees with a group of busking teens on a sailing boat, in search for the truth about her origin. She and her friends realise that it is down to them to save the water world from destruction. We believe that the series falls within the Media assessment criteria for many reasons: ALEA is an emblem/icon of many German and European values. She embodies the generation of FRIDAY’S FOR FUTURE and their task to save the planet as well as the themes of COMING OF AGE and GENDER EQUALITY. We target at the young digital audience of the national and regional public broadcasters and their online platforms and streamers such as AMAZON, NETFLIX or DISNEY. We chose a young and high quality, native English-speaking cast, and set up a fantasy series as an allegory to the audience's current most urgent topic of SAVING THE PLANET. Our marketing strategy leverages various promotional supports and a sustained exploitation of social networks. The financing plan and production structure is radically simple: Minimum Guarantees and automatic Tax Incentives combined with as little as possible selective funding, shall enable us to always be able to finance upcoming seasons. We hope that our series, which is our flagship project to develop a European studio for the international market, will convince Media to join the adventure.
