Description

In January 2009, Orascom Telecom Holding S.A.E. was awarded a one-year management contract of Lebanese government owned mobile operator Alfa. The management contract was for one year and was renewable for another year. Under this contract, Orascom Telecom Holding S.A.E. was required to increase the number of subscribers of Alfa from around 600,000 at the end of 2008 to around 1 million at the end of 2009. The management fee was to be paid by the Republic of Lebanon and was to be defined based on the performance of the operator as measured by operating expenditure per active subscriber. The Republic of Lebanon was fully responsible for the Capex during the contract period. The contract was extended in 2010. The contract was extended again for one year in 2011. Management contract, so no investments.
