Algonquin Gas Pipeline Capacity Expansion

Enbridge is planning a $300 million capacity expansion for its Algonquin gas pipeline system in Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The expansion will increase pipeline capacity by 75 million cubic feet per day, about 2 percent of the total capacity, primarily by replacing existing pipes with wider ones. Construction will take place in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, including the towns of Mendon, Bellingham, Franklin, and Wrentham, with a goal of completing the work by 2029. Eversource is buying roughly 40 percent of the new capacity, aiming to reduce winter gas supply costs and improve reliability.
