Aligning VET programmes to occupational needs in Egypt

AlignVET is designed to strengthen the capacity of Egyptian VET providers by aligning training programs with labor market needs, following the recommendations of the Torino Process Country Report for Egypt and supporting the national development goals outlined in Egypt’s Vision 2030. The project addresses key challenges, including weak collaboration between VET providers and employers, outdated curricula, and the lack of structured quality assurance mechanisms. By adapting the EQAVET framework, particularly Indicators 5 and 6, AlignVET ensures that VET programs enhance graduate employability and skill relevance while fostering a structured and systematic cooperation framework between education and industry. Following the EQAVET quality assurance loop, AlignVET first develops a structured collaboration framework and methodology between VET providers and employers to define and translate occupational competencies into competency-based curricula. Using this framework, the project updates and/or develops at least 15 demand-driven VET modules, ensuring their alignment with both employer needs, EQAVET framework and the European Key Competences Framework. To sustain these efforts, AlignVET introduces an online self-assessment tool, allowing VET providers to continuously evaluate and refine their programs based on employer feedback and graduate outcomes. AlignVET ensures lasting impact by embedding its outcomes into national policies and institutional frameworks, making employer engagement a standard practice in Egypt’s VET system. Structured around the EQAVET quality assurance loop, the project guides VET providers through each phase, from planning to review. By leveraging EQAVET, AlignVET transforms the recommendations of the Torino Process into action, directly supporting Egypt’s Vision 2030. This approach strengthens VET quality, enhances relevance and responsiveness to labor market needs, improves youth employability, and contributes to sustainable economic growth.
