Description

Description

Alisios Holding S.A., a subsidiary of the American company Globeleq Mesoamerica Energy, announced the development of the Alisios Wind Farm located in northern Costa Rica (80 MW in capacity). The project envisaged the construction of four power plants, each with 40 MW in capacity: Vientos de La Perla, Miramar, Campos Azules and Altamira. The investment was estimated at US$ 143 million. Financial closure was achieved in October 2015, when the sponsor was granted a US$ 136.3 million loan from FMO (US$ 83.3 million) and Proparco/AFD (US$ 53 million). The remaining investment cost was equity-financed. The chosen EPC contractor was a consortium of Gamesa and Iberdrola Ingenieria. The project established a long-term power-purchase agreement with the state-owned electricity company ICE awarded in 2012. In May 2016, the project received additional funding which allowed the sponsor to increase the investment amount to US$ 189 million. The additional loan of US$ 13.1 million was granted by OeEB (Development Bank of Austria).
