Description

Description

Core problem AGRA's central concern is to sustainably transform small-scale agriculture in Africa and the associated operating systems and value chains. To this end, the organization provides financial contributions and capacity-building support for local implementing partners whose measures help to improve the productivity of small farmers. Module objective The sustainable increase in the productivity of small-scale cultivation of food crops and their marketing shares (direct impact). This is in selected regions of Ghana and Burkina Faso for certain crops. This is intended to increase the income of small farmers and improve their nutritional situation (indirect impact). Key outputs 1) Better use of yield-increasing cultivation methods, 2) Reduction of post-harvest losses, 3) Improvement of access to sales markets 4) Improved agricultural policy framework (access to finance, promotion of value chains) Target group The target group are small farmers and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the corresponding value chains. In Burkina Faso, there are 837,000 small farmers and in Ghana, 400,000 small farmers. The SMEs work with the small farmers in production promotion, post-harvest protection, marketing and processing. Their number is estimated at 1,050. Contribution to Agenda 2030 1. End poverty in all forms and everywhere permanently 2. End hunger and create food security
