The Sangdong project is a tungsten mining operation in South Korea that has completed Phase 1 commissioning and is transitioning to active mining operations. The project aims to supply approximately 40% of global tungsten demand outside China, addressing a critical supply gap. Phase 1 has a processing plant capacity of about 640,000 tonnes of ore annually, producing roughly 2,300 tonnes of tungsten concentrate. Phase 2 expansion, expected in 2027, will double the processing capacity to about 1.2 million tonnes of ore per year, yielding approximately 4,600 tonnes of tungsten concentrate annually, aligning with the U.S. defense sourcing mandate for non-China tungsten after 2027.
