Description | The project involves demolishing the existing 50,000-seat Aloha Stadium on Oahu, which was opened in 1975 and closed in 2020, and replacing it with a new stadium featuring up to 31,000 seats. The demolition began in February 2026 and includes removing elevated deck-level seating and other structures. The new stadium is funded partly by $350 million of state funding and is expected to cost $475 million or more. Additionally, the 98-acre stadium property will be redeveloped into a mixed-use community with at least 4,100 residences, two hotels, an office tower, retail, entertainment attractions, and open spaces, with a total cost close to or exceeding $5 billion to $6 billion, delivered in phases over 25 years. |
