Description

Description

Conducted by 3 European theatre companies (Gorilla Theater, Berlin, Combats Absurdes, Lyon, DU Narobov, Ljubljana), Along the Walk is a project of artistic and cultural experimentation. Its central theme is deceleration. The main objective is to develop innovative models of artistic creation and production in the field of performing arts, based on the concepts of deceleration, collective work, environmental awareness, social inclusion and intercultural dialogue. The core of the project is the so-called Walks: 14 artistic tours, carried out in rural areas, walking, by duos of artists from 8 different countries. The Walks are both artistic productions and research tools. They allow the artists-researchers to experiment with innovative methods and analyze the impact of their artistic productions with the audiences they meet. The Walks take place in 8 European rural areas, creating and sharing international contemporary performing arts within local areas, co-creating European identity. The experience of the travel is directly shaping the performances, grounded in each specific local context and built by the active participation of the audience. These artworks are built on a solid experience of the partner companies in artistic improvisation and inspired by action research methods. Beside the Walks, the project offers two other significant outputs: the Conference and the Book. Through them the gained knowledge is shared, contributing to the capacity building of European art professionals. The persons directly benefiting from the project belong to two target groups. One is people living in rural areas: 2800 persons will experience and co-create 42 performances within Walks in 8 rural areas. The other is European professionals from the sector of performing arts: 14 artists strongly involved in the project, 70 art professionals from 15 countries participating at the Conference, the Book will be disseminated to a large network of art professionals, at least 1000 persons.
