Description | Altaytelecom is the regional telecom operator in the Altay Region. The company provides basic local telephone services. It also provides national and international services through Rostelecom. Altaytelecom was privatized in December 1993, after the formation of Svyazinvest, the national holding company. Svyazinform held 38% of the common stock, and 51% of the voting rights by 1998. Regarding the remaining stake, employees and individual investors constituted the biggest shareholders by 1998. The net value of the company was around US$136 million by 1998. The company had $66 million of revenues in 1996.
