Description

Description

Alternergy, a local renewable energy developer, was planning the development of the 90MW Pililia wind farm, in Pililia, Riza, on the Northeastern coast of Laguna de Bay, near the Malaya diesel power plant. Total size of 67.5MW has also been reported (generating 134,400 MWh annually). Alterenergy reportedly received six exlclusive wind energy service contracts by the department of energy,. These contracts included the Pililla wind farm (40MW), the Kalayaan/Cavinti wind farm (40MW), and the Abra de llog wind farm (30MW). Note that the capacities have been corrected upward. The developer closed a PPA with Manila Electric Company (MERALCO), to directly connect the wind farm to the local electricity grid, avoiding using the transmission grid. The project was to consist of wind turbines by Gamesa, the G90-2000 type, of 2.0MW each. Project life was expected to be 21 years, which includes 1 year for construction. Expected tariff was Php 8.53/kWh. The project was expected to classify under the Republic Act No. 9513 (Renewable Energy Act of 2008) for Feed in Tariffs, but no confirmation on FiT was given as of early 2012. The FiT was eventually put in place in July 2012. Commissioning was expected for October 2013. Total investment was expected to be P11.687 billion towards the 90MW Pililla wind farm. Reportedly, the 50MW Abra de llog was to cost P4.772 billion. The Kalayaan/Cavinti (50MW) was expected to cost P6.47 billion. The project company for that farm was Cavinti Wind Energy. The project applied for UNFCCC CDM financing in September 2012. http://cdm.unfccc.int/Projects/Validation/DB/7DBU9HPT46EZ1S942C7EB0KXLDNWR5/view.html http://www.alternergy.com/links/malaya.pdf
