Alto High-Speed Rail Project Southern Route

planned

The Alto high-speed rail project proposes a southern route that covers much of eastern Ontario's popular cottage country, including areas around Kingston such as Rideau Lakes, South Frontenac, and Stone Mills. The project has raised concerns among local lake associations and residents about its potential impact on communities and the environment, particularly the Frontenac Arch Biosphere. Public consultation is ongoing, and there is opposition from local property owners and associations.
