Alto High-Speed Rail Project

planned

A proposed high-speed rail project in Canada with two suggested routes: a northern route along the Highway 7 corridor and a southern route potentially cutting through local rural communities. The project is overseen by Alto, a federal Crown corporation, and is expected to proceed regardless of local opposition. The line would not include a stop in Greater Napanee or anywhere else in eastern Ontario outside of Ottawa and Peterborough. The project is framed as a nation-building infrastructure initiative with an estimated cost of $60 to $90 billion.
