Description

Description

The following will be the key objectives which Alzheimer Europe (AE) will pursue in 2024: 1. AE will give a voice to people with dementia and carers in EU and national policies by involving the European Working Group of People with Dementia and European Dementia Carers Working Group in all operating grant activities and meetings. People with dementia and carers will identify their priorities for the 2024 European Parliament elections, develop a short manifesto and present these to newly elected MEPs at a European Parliament Dementia Day organised in December 2024. 2. In 2024, the association will focus on independent living, map and analyse national policies, assess their compliance with UNCRPD and ESRPD principles, identify good practices, publish its findings and recommendations in the 2024 Yearbook and promote identified dementia-inclusive policies and initiatives. 3. AE will improve the capacity of its national member organisations to contribute to national and EU disability policies by organising its Alzheimer’s Association Academy comprised of capacity building webinars and workshops. In 2024, AE will carry out an evaluation of past Academy meetings and identify priority topics for future meetings. 4. AE will continue to actively contribute to EU and national policies including amongst other the EU pharmaceutical package, the artificial intelligence act or the EU regulation on cross-border protection. AE will also collaborate with its national member organisations to contribute to national UNCRPD reporting to ensure dementia is included in national disability policies. 5. AE will continue to actively disseminate results and achievements of its operating grant activities and communicate on EU policies and scientific developments in the field of dementia to its members and the general public. 6. AE will ensure good governance by involving its Board and members in monitoring and evaluating the association’s activities.
