Description
Description | The 170-MW, US$140.0 million Amata-EGCO Natural Gas-Fired Power Plant was being developed by the partially divested Electricity Generating Co. (EGCO) (30%) and Amata Power (70%). Amata Power was comprised of. Borneo Co (51%) and Bang Pakong Industrial Park II (49%). As of mid-2000, Amata Power Limited was owned by Energie Baden-Wuerttemburg (30%), B. Grimm Bayernwerk Electrowatt Ltd. (51.2%), Bang Pakong Industrial Park 2 Public Co., Ltd. (13.77%), and B. Grimm Joint Venture Holding Limited (5.03%). The Amata-EGGO plant was to use gas and combined-cycle technology. A 21-year PPA was signed with the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) on October 8, 1996 to purchase 90-MW of the plant's energy produced through, which came into effect once the project become operational on September 17, 1998. Remaining energy was to be used by the tenants of the Bang Pakong Industrial Park II. The plant was being developed under the Small Power Producer (SPP) Program that encouraged the sale of excess output to EGAT. Through its CMESCO subsidiary, CMS Generation was to maintain and operate the plant. Siemens AG was the project contractor and equipment supplier. The project is expected to have a 25:75 debt/equity ratio. The project has obtained US$100.0 million in funding from the German Kfw and Bht 900 (aprox. US$34.8 million at January 1997 exchange rates) from Bangkok Bank. The plant's capacity could be increased to 320-MW pending EGAT approval. |
