Amazon Data Centers Reclaimed Water Cooling Expansion

Amazon is expanding the use of reclaimed water to cool its data centers. Currently, 20 data centers use treated sewage water for cooling, with plans to increase this to 120 by 2030. The initiative aims to make Amazon water positive by returning more water to communities and the environment than it uses in data center operations. The project includes expanding recycled water usage to data centers in Georgia and Mississippi and increasing non-drinkable water use in Virginia. The water undergoes multiple treatment processes to remove impurities before use and is recycled back to treatment plants afterward.
