Description

Description

Amazon.com Inc is developing a new smartphone device known internally as "Transformer" as a second attempt at the smartphone market. The project aims to fulfill Jeff Bezos' vision of a ubiquitous, voice-driven "Star Trek" computer, prioritizing artificial intelligence capabilities that could eliminate the need for traditional app stores. The development is led by a group called ZeroOne, exploring both traditional smartphones and minimalist "dumbphones" to counter screen addiction. This hardware push coincides with massive backend investments in AI infrastructure, including Nvidia delivering 1 million AI chips to Amazon Web Services by 2027 and a record $45.1 billion data center construction boom driven by Amazon and Meta Platforms Inc.
