Description

Living in your own place. Having friends. Making your own choices. Being good at something. Belonging. All people share these AMBITIONS. But people with intellectual disabilities face segregation, and their families isolation. They have right to decide denied by legal capacity laws. They are segregated in institutions, lack access to support, housing. Barely any have a proper job, and many are at risk of losing disability benefits when earning salary. They face limits in access to healthcare, and cannot make decisions about it. Forced sterilisation is performed in some countries. We want to change this, and we will. Legal and policy instruments exist, eg the UN CRPD, the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, EU Disability Rights Strategy. Inclusion Europe is the European movement advocating for full rights and inclusion of 20 million people with intellectual disabilities and their family members. We: - Support people with intellectual disabilities in contributing to EU-level conferences and consultations. - Bring data, insights and examples into EU policy-making - Promote examples, create tools, and develop collaborations for disability rights and inclusion In the 3-years - 45 self-advocates and family members participate in 3 trainings in disability rights and EU policies - 550 participants attend 3 conferences - 180 participants in 6 self-advocacy online exchange sessions - 180 participants in 6 online session to debate disability rights and exchange practices - 120 participants to 6 in-person debates about disability rights agenda - 480 participants learning about deinstitutionalisation and EU policies during 6 events We produce 137 publications to inform EU policy-making, promote practices: - 3 Inclusion indicators reports - 99 Europe for us easy-to-read magazine versions - 6 research briefings - 3 reports on specific issues - 6 country reports - 2 on progress of deinstitutionalisation We organise multiple campaigns to promote disability rights and EU policies.
