The Amigo LNG project is a proposed floating liquefied natural gas export terminal in Guaymas, Sonora, described as the largest of its kind in the world. It faces a fundamental gas supply constraint due to the limited capacity of the Sásabe-Guaymas pipeline, which cannot simultaneously supply the terminal and four existing gas-fired power plants in northwestern Mexico. The project has experienced repeated delays in its final investment decision and startup date, with challenges in obtaining government permits and attracting investors.
