The municipal corporation of Amritsar has restructured its water and sewerage wing into Amritsar Urban Water and Waste Water Management Limited under a World Bank-funded canal water supply project. The new entity aims to streamline services, improve revenue collection, and ensure all water and sewer connections are legal. A drive has been intensified against illegal water and sewer connections, with warnings of disconnection for failure to regularise. The corporation has made property tax receipt mandatory for new connections and linked water and sewer services with tax compliance through an e-governance platform.
