Description

Description

The municipal corporation of Amritsar has restructured its water and sewerage wing into Amritsar Urban Water and Waste Water Management Limited as part of a World Bank-funded canal water supply project. The new entity aims to streamline services, improve revenue collection, and ensure all water and sewer connections are legal. The corporation has decided to intensify its drive against illegal water and sewer connections, warning residents that failure to regularise such connections will lead to disconnection. Around 1.04 lakh illegal connections are operational, and despite awareness campaigns, less than 3,000 have been regularised. New connections require a valid property tax receipt, and property ID is mandatory through the e-governance platform.
