The proposed project comprises of a 7 year subordinated tier II qualifying loan of up to US$8 million, with a 5 year grace period for principal (the “Loan”) and a 1 year trade finance facility of up to US$5 million under the IFC Global Trade Finance Program (the “Trade Facility”, and together with the Loan, the “IFC Investment”) to Bank of Africa Kenya Limited (“BOA Kenya” or the “Bank”). The IFC Investment will be combined with an advisory services program to the Bank under the Africa Micro Small Medium Enterprise Finance Program (“AMSME Finance Program” or the “Program”). The IFC Investment will support the Bank’s efforts to expand its lending activities in the Kenyan SME sector, and help build its capacity to serve the sector profitably.
