Description | Shore Capital Partners is working to acquire the 47-acre Amtrak yard in the South Loop of Chicago. The site is being considered for a mixed-use development including a possible new baseball stadium for the Chicago White Sox and a Northwestern Medicine healthcare facility. Amtrak is pursuing opportunities to deliver a larger and improved Midwest maintenance facility as part of the Chicago Hub Improvement Program, which includes major improvements at Chicago Union Station and routes leading into and out of it. The overall project remains largely unfunded with a projected cost of over $1.1 billion as of 2024. |
