Description

Description

Anadolu Endustri Holding A.S (AEH), via its subsidiary Anadolu Kafkasya Enerji Yatirimlari A.S, was developing the 85.8MW Paravani hydropower plant, Samtskhe-Javakheti Region, Georgia. The project company was Georgian Urban Energy (GUE). Annual output was estimated at 450.7GWh. The project was to be connected to the national grid via substation located in Akhaltsikhe. This allowed for seasonal power export to Turkey as part of the Black Sea Energy Transmission System. Under the agreement, each year during 3 months in winter the output has to be sold on the domestic market. The Environmental Impact Assessment was completed in September 2009, by SRF Gamma. The project also includes a 32km 220kV transmission line. Total project cost was estimated at US$156.5 million. Financing was provided by IFC, EBRD and TSKB. TSKB was the IFC/EBRD B lender. TSKB provided US$23 million. IFC provided an A Loan of US$40.5 million. The EBRD provided US$52 million senior loan, and US$5 million in equity. The project applied for UNFCCC CDM financing. http://paravanihpp.com/pdf/EISA_Report_ParavaniHpp_English.pdf http://www.paravanihpp.com/ http://www.iges.or.jp/en/cdm/pdf/regional/20110906/Session4_G2_2b_GLazriev.pdf http://www.ebrd.com/pages/project/psd/2010/42249.shtml http://www.neurope.eu/article/ebrd-ifc-fund-paravani-hydro-plant
