Description | A massive landslide occurred near the Anakkampoyil-Kalladi-Meppadi twin tunnel project site in Wayanad, Kerala. The landslide involved tonnes of mud and debris crashing down the hillside, uprooting trees and engulfing the area. The incident resulted in two deaths, eight injuries, and at least seven workers missing. The landslide struck near Meenakshi Bridge following heavy rainfall, with 265 mm of rain recorded in 24 hours. The site is close to Mundakkai, which experienced devastating landslides in 2024. The Kerala Agriculture Minister termed the incident a man-made disaster, blaming the Konkan Railway Corporation Limited, which is executing the tunnel project. |
