Description
Description | The Anaklia Port project aims to develop Georgia's only deep-sea port capable of handling large cargo vessels, strengthening the Trans-Caspian International Transportation Route (TITR) and expanding the Middle Corridor trade route linking Europe and Asia. Initially awarded to the US-Georgian Anaklia Development Consortium, the contract was canceled in 2020 due to unmet obligations. In May 2024, a Chinese–Singaporean consortium led by China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) was selected as the new private partner, though final contract details remain unclear. Construction activity is underway, but the project remains in an in-between state without a publicly confirmed final contract. |
