The plant will be one of the most efficient natural gas plants in Duke Energy's system, featuring state-of-the-art environmental control technologies and using 90% less water than traditional wet cooling technology. Construction is expected to begin in summer 2027, with operations starting by early 2031. The facility will have an approximate nominal capacity of 1,365 megawatts, with portions owned by Central Electric Power Cooperative and North Carolina Electric Membership Corporation. |
