Description

In February 2010, the tender to rehabilitate, operate and improve the water and sewerage system of the city of Andradina was approved. In July 2010, Consorcio Saneamento de Andradina was awarded a 30-year concession contract over two rival bidders and formed Aguas de Andradina as the project company comprised of: CAB Ambiental [70%, Brazil] and Sabesp, [30%, Sao Paulo's state owned utility]. Aguas de Andradina had targets for 100% of sewerage collection by 2015 and 100% of sewerage treatment by 2019. Andradina had a population of approximately 55,000 in 2010. The company agreed to invest BRL 26 million (US $14.5 million), in addition to the payment of BRL 3 million (US $1.5 million) for the concession rights. The concession contract was signed in the end of September 2010, and Aguas de Andradina took over the operation of the assets in October 2010.
