The three town councils of Benasque, Luchon and Vielha e Mijaran, together with Benasque Hospital Foundation propose to deal with the challenge of developing together the ANETO KINGDOM POCTEFA project. ANETO KINGDOM is based on sustainable and efficient uses of natural and cultural heritage of the mountain area shared by these four institutions, that is composed by the different valleys around the ANETO peak. In these valleys, the economy is mainly focused on tourism and more specially on activities related to ski resorts; the primary sector, based on livestock farming, is clearly decreasing; the agri-food sector is still emerging; and the spectacular natural and cultural heritage has constituted along centuries the main economical resource for a population strongly rooted into this mountain area. As we face common challenges, we propose common solutions: design new experiential tourism products taking advantage of natural and cultural heritage; strengthen the relationship within the population of the area in order to face together new challenges; and create an institutional body that makes possible a more permanent and sustainable cooperation (EGTC). So we will work together to give common solution to common problem. That could sound as an innovation nowadays, although our ancestors did it already, they cooperated in order to get through.
