Angola- Basic Education and Job Skills Project

The ADF Basic Education and job Skills Project (Education II) derives from priority human resource requirements at the basic education level, which form the basis of the objectives of the Interim Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (I-PRSP) of the Government of Angola. The project is designed to contribute to poverty reduction through an increase in access to quality basic education and to skills development opportunities for the most vulnerable population groups. It covers deprived urban and rural areas of four western provinces of the country where there is also a substantial number of internally displaced persons (IDPs). These provinces are Luanda, Kwanza Sul, Benguela and Namibe and have been selected primarily on the basis of security considerations, since intensive supervision will be a major factor in successfully implementing the project.
