Angola LNG Facility Expansion and Kaminho FPSO Project

The Angola LNG facility, constructed in 2008, processes associated gas from offshore blocks operated by ExxonMobil, Total, and Eni/BP. Recent developments include the Sanha Lean Gas project (first gas achieved in December 2024) to boost supply volumes. Angola is also developing non-associated gas fields in the Lower Congo basin, with the New Gas Consortium led by Azule Energy targeting multiple blocks to increase LNG capacity by 2026. The Kaminho project in block 20 of the Kwanza basin focuses on condensate-rich pre-salt discoveries, with condensate/light oil recovery prioritized and the completion of the Kaminho FPSO unit expected in 2028. The government plans to expand pipeline networks to evacuate gas to coastal points and onshore facilities to meet local demand, though investment is delayed due to project costs and transportation tariffs.
