Description

Description

_x000C_Anhui Conch (or the company), one of China’s largest cement production companies, has an installed clinker production capacity of approximately 40 Million tons per year (TPY) distributed among 26 dry technology kiln lines, and a few small wet technology kilns, at 12 locations. In addition, the company operates 20 cement grinding plants and an extensive distribution network linking nine provinces of eastern China. Anhui Conch is engaged in a progressive expansion of its energy efficient clinker and cement manufacturing capacity, while eliminating its less efficient wet technology units. To support this development Anhui Conch has approached IFC for obtaining a corporate loan. The capital expenditure to be financed by the loan will include construction of new energy efficient clinker production lines and the installation of heat recovery power plants at all of its major cement kilns. These new heat recovery units will reduce the company’s total electricity offtake from the national grid – which is largely generated by coal fired power plants – by 124 MW, thereby resulting in a significant offset of CO2.
