Description

Description

"Folioscope organizes Anima, the Brussels International Animation Film Festival every year. Holding of the 43rd edition of the Anima Festival, from 23 February to 03 March 2024, and the 44th edition of the Anima Festival from 21 February to 02 March 2025 Anima is the only festival of its kind in Belgium. It always takes place during the ‘Carnival’ school holidays, and in the great Flagey building in Brussels. There are also decentralized Anima programmes in about 10 locations in Wallonia and Flanders. The Festival presents, during 10 days and more than 100 film screenings in Brussels, and 150 more all around Belgium, animated films exclusively, namely films created frame by frame. These films are diverse in length and come from all around the world. They can vary from very short to feature films and they are for all audiences, from very young children to a professional audience or films for adults or the whole family. More than 200 shorts and features films, are carefully selected by the Festival team each year and divided into various categories and programmes, including, for example, the famous ""Best of Shorts"", ""It’s Belgian"" or ""Focus""… The Festival offers two online platform: one exclusively for professionals with the entire selection of short films and another platform for the general public, with about 40 films during 1 month. Anima is also a full week of professional meetings, Futuranima, with many European guests as well as students, for sessions of making of, masterclasses, round tables and recruitement... Anima is one of the most important festivals in Europe and is qualified to nominate its candidates for the Oscar® for best animated short film. Folioscope also organizes the Anima Saturdays (one session per month) and the Anima on Tour screenings and helps to promote animation in Belgium and abroad in all possible ways. Folioscope obtained the Ecodyn label from Brussels Environment in December 2022 animation in Belgium and abroad in all possible ways."
