Description
Description | The Anpara C Thermal Power Station was a 1200 MW coal based thermal power plant located in Sonbhadra district in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The project was developed by LANCO Infratech Limited (LANCO). In November 2006, LANCO signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for the sale of 1000 MW power from this project to Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL), the state owned utility in Uttar Pradesh responsible for bulk power procurement for the state of Uttar Pradesh. The PPA tenure was for 25 years. LANCO formed LANCO Anpara Power Private Limited, a special purpose vehicle for implementing this project. The project was awarded to LANCO following a competitive bidding process initiated by Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (UPRVUNL) in the state of Uttar Pradesh for the award of this project. UPRVUNL was the state owned utility in Uttar Pradesh involved with generation of thermal power and was mandated by the distribution companies in Uttar Pradesh to undertake the process of bidding for award of this project. The criterion for award of the project was the lowest tariff quoted for the power to be generated from the project. LANCO received the Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from UPRVUNL for setting up the project in September 2006. The project was estimated to cost US$ 1,100 million and achieved financial closure in November 2007 with the Rural Electrification Corporation of India (REC) being the lead funding agency. The project was expected to be commissioned by July 2010. |
