Description

Description	Mosenergo is the regional electricity utility covering Moscow and the surrounding areas with a generating capacity of 14,478 MW. It is the largest of the energos, was corporatized in 1992 and privatized in 1993. Mosenergo is considered to be among the most liquid energos. After the divestiture, shareholders were RAO EES Rossii (49%), foreign companies (28.8%), individuals (18%) and other companies (4.2%). In 1996 capital investment was estimated at $480m and is expected to remain at $490m/year for the near future. In June 1998, the EBRD and the IFC extended a US$ 50 million loan to AO Mosenergo; the funds will be used to finance the completion of the Zagorsk 1,200 MW pump-storage power station. As of Dec. 31, 2009, Mosenergo was owned by Gazprom (53.49%), Dyepartamyent Imushchyestva Goroda Moskvy (26.44%) and others 20.07%, giving government entities a majority share in the company.
