As a result of the 2003-2008 power sector restructuring in Russia, JSC Sakhalinenergo" became a subsidiary of JSC "RAO Energy System of the East." As of end 2009, AO Sakhalinenergo had a mix of public and private investors: RAO Enyergyetichyeskiye sistyemy Vostoka JSC (48.99%), Depository-Clearing Company CJSC (28.11%), IK ENERGOINVEST (6.54%), Morskiye porty Sakhalina LLC (5.58%), Sakhalinskaya kompaniya Enyergostroy LLC (5.58%) and others (5.20%). As of end of 2011, the shareholders of Sakhalinenergo were: RAO "Energy System of the East (49%), CJSC Depositary-Clearing Company (34%), "Vostok-Finance" LLC (6.54%), and CJSC "Sakhalin Leasing Company" (4.12%).
