Description

Description

Established by Federal Decree No. 47,446, of December 17, 1959, and later amended by Federal Decree No. 70,296, of March 17, 1972, the Aparados da Serra National Park (PNAS), as well as the Aparados da Serra National Park, Serra Geral (PNSG), established by Federal Decree No. 531, of May 20, 1992, consist of Conservation Units (UCs) and are located between the Municipalities of Aparados da Serra (Rio Grande do Sul) and Praia Grande ( Santa Catarina). The PNAS has 13,141 hectares, while the PNSG has 17,301 hectares and a territory divided into Gleba Sul and Gleba Norte, positioned adjacent to the limits of the PNAS, as a strategy to expand the area of the existing Park. Both UCs are under the responsibility of ICMBio and have shared management, sharing the same work team, advisory board, Management Plan and administrative headquarters. The PNAS and PNSG were created to conserve the region's characteristic formations, preserving the scenic beauty of the mosaic formed by high-altitude fields with Araucaria forests and canyons, among others. In relation to the current status of Public Use of PNAS and PNSG, these parks offer visitors the possibility of hiking on the Plateau and through some of the canyons, bathing in the river, observing nature and trails. Among the main attractions of the Aparados da Serra and Serra Geral Parks, the visiting centers of Itaimbezinho, Rio do Boi and Fortaleza stand out. Preparation of Studies and Public Consultation completed. The studies were approved by TCU on September 16, 2020. Notice published on October 15, 2020, the auction held on January 11, 2021 and the contract was signed on August 12, 2021.
