Description | Transmission system operator Austrian Power Grid AG (APG) is progressing with a EUR-140-million (USD 163.9m) project to modernise and expand the Ernsthofen substation, which plays a key role for the nationwide transport of renewable energy along the east–west axis. The project includes commissioning a regional control centre, modernising 110 kV installation completed in 2022, renewing 220 kV switchgear in phases (first phase completed in 2025, second in 2027, third in 2029), and installing three new 220/110 kV large power transformers. The substation secures supply for large parts of Lower and Upper Austria, including industrial regions. |
