Appalachian Lithium Mining Project

planned

The US Geological Survey (USGS) discovered about 2.3 million metric tons of economically recoverable lithium spread across Appalachian states from Maine to the Carolinas. This deposit represents 328 years' worth of last year's lithium imports and enough material to power 130 million electric vehicles. The deposits are spread over a large territory with the southern Appalachians, primarily the Carolinas, holding about 1.43 million metric tons, and the northern Appalachians holding 900,000 metric tons, mostly in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont.
