Description | The Appleseed Energy Center is a 200-megawatt solar farm in Cass County with the capacity to produce enough energy to power about 60,000 homes annually. The project began construction in April 2024 and has now begun operations. It is operated by Appleseed Solar LLC, a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources LLC, and has a power-purchase agreement with Northern Indiana Public Service Co. The project supported about 225 construction jobs and resulted in three full-time positions. It is expected to contribute about $30 million in tax revenue to Cass County over its operational life. |
