Description
Description | "The Jean Monnet Module ""Application of the European Digital Agenda in Cyprus"" (EUDACY) aims to enhance Cyprus's capacity to fulfil its obligations as an EU member state under the European Digital Agenda. This includes compliance with key EU legislations such as the Digital Services Act Package, NIS2 Directive, and AI Act, fostering excellence in education and research while upholding EU values in digital transformation. EUDACY promotes an open, democratic, and sustainable digital society, ensuring adherence to ethical standards and social norms in the digital sphere. It integrates EU values outlined in Article 2 TEU into the digital environment, aligning with the European Declaration on Digital Rights and Principles for the Digital Decade. EUDACY facilitates the harmonized adoption of recent EU laws into national legislation, such as Law 125 (I) 2018 on data protection and Law 89 (I) 2020 on network and information security. It seeks to balance technological advancement with protecting fundamental rights, which is crucial in the current digital era. By addressing the EU Digital Agenda's objectives and legal framework, EUDACY supports Cyprus's legislative alignment with the Digital Services Act Package, NIS2 Directive, and AI Act. It significantly advances AI excellence through six new courses spanning 270 hours over three years, benefiting 540 students. Additionally, it includes seven events engaging stakeholders like students, researchers, policymakers, and legal professionals. EUDACY has established a dedicated research unit at Frederick University focused on law and technology, disseminating findings to national authorities and the public, and producing new scientific publications. This module builds on the achievements of the ""Training for a European Area of Justice"" (TrEAJus) project, funded by the EU's JUSTICE Project, enhancing EU studies curricula with added EU value." |
