Application of hedging instruments to stabilize fuel prices

The possibility of applying these instruments is a matter of common consideration among policymakers from governments in the region and financial institutions. On several occasions governments have established contacts with the Bank to analyze aspects of a possible design of such a mechanism. Thus, the objective of the study is to address the concerns of borrowers on alternatives for the stabilization of fuel prices. The expected result is that the understanding of the problem and possible responses contribute to the design of macroeconomic policy and stabilization in the region.
