Objectives -train 190 EU legal practitioners when applying the six EU Directives on procedural rights -look at the rights in question in relation to the EAW, the Directives regarding the enforcement of foreign criminal sentences, and the gathering of evidence (EIO) and e-evidence proposals -show how these EU instruments are interpreted by the CJEU -look at the differences with regard to the implementation of these Directives at national level -discuss gaps in procedural rights in the EU and the need for further measures -exchange best practices in a way bringing together different legal professions Activities -4 seminars offering training on procedural rights in the EU, each having a different focus: -State of play of the six EU Directives on procedural rights and the need for further measures -The case law of the CJEU on the Directives on procedural rights including a visit to the CJEU -Procedural rights in the context of the EAW as well as pre-trial detention and detention -Procedural rights in the context of evidence gathering, especially regarding the EIO and e-evidence proposals -project website containing a library, papers, selected presentations and audio podcasts Type and number of persons benefiting from the project 190 EU judges, prosecutors, defence lawyers, court interpreters and translators, and prison and probation staff. Numerous others will benefit from the feedback of their colleagues as well as from the website. Expected results -better application of the Directives on procedural rights -better understanding of the other legal professions when applying the Directives -better understanding of the national differences when applying the Directives and hence more mutual trust -personal contacts with colleagues from other professions and EU Member States will foster mutual understanding and hence the creation of a European judicial culture Type and number of deliverables to be produced -4 one-and-a-half day training activities -project website
