The objective of the TA is to prepare an investment project for the sustainable development and management of inland fisheries and aquaculture in Sri Lanka. The TA will assess strategies for increasing production and quality of fish and fish products from freshwater fisheries and aquaculture to create new income-generating opportunities in coastal and non-coastal areas. Based on the assessment, the TA will develop economically viable models for demonstration and replication by community-based organizations and the private sector. The TA will also assess the insitutional framework and capacity development needs, and review the regulatory framework to identify the need for rationalization and further development. The information systems and technology needs will be assessed and a systems design and development framework will be recommended.
