The objective of the Third National Communication to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Project for Argentina is to strengthen the information base and institutional capacity of the key members of the Steering Committee, in order to integrate climate change priorities into the recipient's development strategies and relevant sector programs by providing financial and technical support to prepare the Third National Communication (TNC). There are four components to the project, the first component being harnessing national potential for climate change mitigation. The objective of this component is to update the country's Greenhouse gasses (GHG) emission inventory for each emitting sector, and assess and design potential mitigation measures. The second component is the strengthening the national adaptation agenda. This component include carrying out of studies to further develop priority adaptation actions necessary to strengthen the recipient's preparedness to climate change impacts in areas identified as most vulnerable. The third component is the institutional strengthening, capacity building, and information management. This component include strengthening institutional capacity at the national, provincial and municipal levels, with regard to the integration of climate data into sector programs and strategies through, inter alia, the carrying out of workshops aimed at developing and disseminating project-related information and materials, targeting the participation of key governmental agencies, scientific and technological institutions, private sector and civil society. Finally, the fourth component is the project management.
